Top ten(ish) books of all time

Yesterday I was talking about books with @mollybmom  on Twitter.  She has made a comment that she hadn’t taken me for a fantasy buff.  In the book conversations, I often mention that the particular book being discussed were “definitely part of my top ten ever.”  I said that to Jana during this conversation.  It got me thinking…  If I had to make a definitive list, which books would actually made the cut?  I tried to make a top 10 list, but decided to expand my definition to count series as only one choice in the top ten.  Here is what I came up with, in no particular order.

  1. Jamie…Our conversation led me to some serious reflection about teaching, learning, and the power of the written word. Being given the opportunity to share, connect, and collaborate around reading is by far the most genuine way to continue to be a life long learner.

Not to mention I made a mental list of allmy favorites I wanted to share!

Thanks for the inspiration and opportunity to reflect.

  3. Those are some great choices. I am trying to think what would be in my top choices for fantasy…probably Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, Mortal Instruments (by Cassandra Clare), Stephen Lawhead’s Pendragon Series, and Redwall by Brian Jacques, The Hunger Games of course, and need to think of 3 more..

  4. Great list. Surely a few books I’d like to pick up. Thanks!

I noticed you left out George R.R. Martin’s Songs of Ice and Fire. Have you read this series yet? Absolutely amazing.

The others I would add to the list are Stephen King’s Gunslinger series and Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.

I just added you on twitter, look forward to connecting and learning together!
